What is an RGII form and safe electric form?

The RGII Registration Scheme provides for individually registered gas installers to operate under company registration. It’s a mark of a professional gas-safe engineer to be registered, and without it you will struggle to complete jobs.

Since 2006, the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has worked with the gas industry to put in place a new regulatory system to supervise the work of gas installers with respect to safety. This new statutory-based regulatory system has replaced the previous voluntary register operated by Bord Gaìs. As RGIs are separate businesses or sole traders, RGII cannot instruct any registered gas installer to enter into a contract for services, but it’s best to register with them to communicate to your customers that you are gas safe.

When registering for the RGII scheme, you’ll need to provide proof that you have adequate tradesmen’s insurance in place that will allow you to undertake the work safely. If you do not have such insurance in place, your application will be denied.

Only when confirmation is received that the appropriate insurance is in place and the annual subscription fee has been received will the applicant be registered with the RGII.

How does SEAI work with insurance?

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) works with homeowners, businesses, communities and government to improve energy efficiency across Ireland. They make grants available which allow contractors to install energy efficient solutions such as solar panels and insulation into homes and businesses.

But to be eligible for this kind of work, you need to prove that you meet SEAI’s minimum requirements for safety. That includes having current, viable insurance in place to protect you and your clients while you work.

Registering with SEAI can be a great way to grow your business. When you send in an application, you need to agree to carry out all works in accordance with SEAI standards and specifications, their code of practice and quality assurance and disciplinary procedure regulations.

Of course, you also need to tell them all about your insurance. Instead of all of these forms to fill in, we can help you on the insurance side.
