WE COMPARE 12 VAN INSURANCE COMPANIES TO GET YOU A GREAT PRICE

Van Insurance for every business is different. A van will have different requirements to a Heavy Goods Vehicle and a Commercial Motor Fleet will have more specific requirements than a single or domestic vehicle.

Once we know your details, we can quickly arrange the most suitable cover for your particular needs, at a price you'll appreciate.

When Buying Van Insurance you will need a quotation for Comprehensive Insurance and Third Party Fire & Theft Insurance (TPF&T). In most instances there is very little price difference between the two types of policies, though the difference in cover is enormous. With a TPF&T policy, your own van is covered only if it is stolen or goes on fire. With a comprehensive insurance policy, your van is also covered for accidental damage. Third party Liability cover always applies to both cases.

What other insurance covers are available to Van Owners?

Breakdown assistance is automatically included in van insurance policies underwritten by a number of companies. So if you are quoted a competitive price from one of these insurance companies, you will not need to purchase additional Breakdown assistance cover which will save you €30.

Driving Other Vans is a very useful additional cover and is included free with van insurance policies underwritten by certain insurers. Driving other vans gives you TPO (third party only cover) while driving a van not owned by you and with the permission of the owner. Very useful if your van breaks down.

Signage discounts are available from at least one Insurance company. Be sure and mention to us if you have a sign and we will be sure to get any discount currently available.

Legal Expenses insurance is automatically included on van insuarnce policies currently supplied by at least two underwriters. This means that you don’t have to buy the (optional) add on legal expenses cover which saves you €25.

Windscreen cover is included on nearly all comprehensive van insurance policies though some insurance companies also include windscreen cover on TPF&T policies.

Tips for reducing the cost of my Van Insurance

  • Add your wife to your van insurance policy as a named driver. 3 Insurance Companies give an insured and spouse discount
  • Tell us about the signs on your van. One Insurance Company gives a signage discount
  • Tell us about the no claims bonus on your private car insurance policy. We will see about mirroring it on to your van Insurance policy
  • Reduce the number of drivers on your policy
  • The value of your van will probably not affect your premium
  • Crew Cabs are more expensive to insure than standard vans. This is because many insurance companies avoid insuring them
  • Old vans are more expensive to insure than newer vans – again this is because many insurance companies try to avoid taking them on

What if I have never had Van Insurance or Commercial Vehicle Insurance before?

Arranging van insurance for the first time is absolutely no problem. In fact, it is very similar to arranging car insurance. A very easy way to significantly reduce the cost of your van insurance policy is to “mirror” the earned no claims bonus from your car insurance policy on to your new van insurance policy.

Call us for a quote and we will get you the best cover at the lowest price. We can go on cover over the phone for a week giving you time to send us in copies of your license, NCT certificate and proof of bonus.
